Plyometrie corresponds to the quick sequence of an eccentric and a concentric phase. Several nervous and mechanical mechanisms (reflex activity, elastic structures intervention, respectively) make this method very efficient.
Moreover, plyometric actions are present in all sports. Training that way is therefore very interesting for all muscles groups. Plyometrie is a very rich method offering lots of different exercises that can be performed easily with few equipment. Exercises’ variants are based on muscles tensions, positions and movements. Although most of the exercises are jumps, plyometrie can also be performed with additional weights (see here ).
For more information, you can consult this extract of Gilles Cometti’s book:
Skipping is the basis of leaping. Great attention is needed for these exercises so that the position is correct.
Then horizontal jumps, hopping and vertical jumps can be performed. Working in rhythm with music is of great interest, particularly for young athletes.
