Physical conditioning / Evaluation of physical abilities
The Centre d’Expertise de la Performance’s work is going from the complete evaluation of physical capacities using high technology devices (Biodex, ergopower…) to the individualized planning of training in accordance with the characteristics of each sport.
Several elite teams and athletes came/are coming to our facilities either for testing or for a complete physical conditioning program. Examples: Olympique de Marseille (soccer – ligue 1), Davies Cup English national team, JDA Dijon (basket – proA)…
Training courses / Publications
Every year, the CEP organises training courses to deliver a Physical conditioning University degree as well as several meetings. Among the people trained by the CEP, several are know physical conditioning specialist in professional teams (soccer, volley-ball, rugby…).
Books and videos related to physical conditioning are frequently published for coaches, physical conditioning specialist, students …
Some publications from the CEP :
- Intermittent training
- Plyometrie
- Warm-up
Research dedicated to exercise training
The Centre d’Expertise de la Performance Gilles Cometti also aims to do research, sports’ audit and engineering (feasibility studies, tests conception and validation…). In collaboration with the INSERM U887 Motricy-Plasticity laboratory, several experiments are conducted in order to improve scientific knowledge on physical training and to optimize physical conditioning. These studies are based on muscle physiology, neurophysiology and exercise physiology.
The main topics are :
- Effects of electromyostimulation on strength, jumping ability, speed and specific performance,
- Effects of several warm-up modalities on subsequent performance. Particular attention id given to the “Russian warm-up” and to the “potentiation” phenomenon,
- Neuromuscular fatigue and recovery following several types of effort,
- Effects of an aerobic training program coupled with respiratory muscles exercises on cardiovascular and respiratory systems adaptations,
- …
The results of these studies are published in international journal and available online.
